Rectangular Faience Vase by Stig Lindberg Sweden 1958 The rarest of all of the pieces from the famous "Karneval" series, this hand-painted vase depicts a knight and rider (and bird) on one side, and a woman trapped in a bird-cage on the other. Reminiscent both of late-Gothic woodcut illustrations and 1950s cartoon design, the "Karneval" series is widely appreciated as a source of inspiration for the current crop of graphic designers and animation artists.
