Klaus Grabe End Table U.S.A.
1940s
Educated at the Bauhaus, Klaus Grabe left Germany in the 1930s along with many other alumni and professors of that greatest of all academies of modernism. His exile brought him first to Mexico, where he joined Bauhaus friends Josef and Anni Albers, and Hannes and Lena Meyer. Grabe then moved to New York, where he began to design the simply-constructed plywood furniture that he is best known for. Their functional yet distinctively organic lines call to mind the optimism of their time.
